What I do.

One of the most common questions I get as an artist is: “what do you  paint?” Sometimes I answer that I use oil paint. I paint houses and nature. Sometimes I say that I mostly work with video nowadays. I build up scenographies that I film inside of, I write scripts and short stories that I realise in collaboration with musicians, actors and other artists. I also write about art and about other artists in magazines and other art contexts.

But what I would like to say is this: To me the most beautiful image is the unseen image. I am interested in different ways of experiencing reality, different choices we make as we make sense of our impressions. I like to rewrite stories, finding alternative meanings or voices within these stories. Another thing that sets me off is when I find absurdities in everyday life that just seem too incredible to be true, when life imitates fiction.

When I work I try to find space for doubt and insecurity.

My favourite sentence is ”Why not the other way around?” I have no favourite colour.
